When we first began helping people to hear better, digital technology was brand new. Hearing aids had telecoils to help with telephone communication, but options were pretty limited for other devices.
A few years ago we began to see Bluetooth technology built into top end hearing aids. This new feature allowed the devices to connect wirelessly to those cell phones that were equipped to do so, but was very expensive.
However, in the last two years, wireless connectivity has finally made its way to the technology that most people can afford. Depending on the manufacturer and the technology chosen, all but the very basic, entry-level devices are now capable of connecting to cell phones, televisions, home phones, iPods, and computers. Because so much of our lives depend on these technologies, being able to hear clearly when using the phone, watching t.v., and using the computer has become very important!
