Doug Garrett has audiology in his DNA. As the son of Timpanogos Hearing & Tinnitus founder Dr. Layne Garrett, Doug grew up inside one of Utah County’s most respected hearing care practices — learning early that better hearing isn’t just about turning up the volume. It’s about staying connected to the people and moments that matter most.

While earning his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Utah Valley University, Doug joined Timpanogos Hearing & Tinnitus in 2022 as an Audiology Assistant, where he has spent the past four years working directly alongside the clinical team to support patients through every stage of their hearing care journey. That background in exercise science isn’t a detour — it reflects a genuine interest in how the whole body works together, and how physical health, cognitive health, and sensory health are deeply intertwined. Doug is a Certified Dementia Practitioner, a credential that reflects the clinic’s commitment to understanding the connection between untreated hearing loss and cognitive decline. He applies that understanding with every patient he serves. One of Doug’s true strengths is in the space where hearing technology meets everyday life. He specializes in helping patients get the most out of their devices by connecting hearing aids to smartphones, tablets, streaming accessories, and other technology — so that better hearing translates directly into better communication, not just in the clinic, but at home, at work, and everywhere in between. For patients who have felt frustrated that their devices aren’t working the way they should, Doug is often the person who figures out why and fixes it.
